Shimmer and Slice Studio offers custom 3D printing in PLA and PETG, allowing you to choose the design, colour and size of your finished item.
Whether you have already found a commercially licensed design or simply have an idea in mind, we can help locate an existing model or create a basic custom design or modification for you.
This listing is for a $5 custom-order deposit only. It is not the full cost of your finished print.
How it works
- Purchase this $5 custom 3D printing deposit.
- We will email you within 24 hours to discuss:
- what you would like printed;
- any model or product link you have found;
- your preferred colour or colour combination;
- your preferred size;
- your choice of PLA or PETG, where suitable;
- any basic personalisation or design changes.
- We will check that the design is printable and licensed for commercial use.
- You will receive a personalised quote for approval.
- Your final invoice will show the full quoted price, with your $5 deposit applied as a credit. You will only need to pay the remaining balance.
- Printing begins once the quote, design details and remaining payment have been approved.
What can we print?
We can assist with a wide range of personalised and made-to-order items, including:
- articulated animals and flexi toys;
- sensory and fidget toys;
- personalised keyrings and bag tags;
- names, signs and display pieces;
- desk organisers and storage solutions;
- cosplay accessories and props;
- miniatures, figurines and decorative models;
- cake toppers and party decorations;
- replacement parts and practical household items;
- custom gifts and keepsakes;
- items supplied through an STL, 3MF or suitable model link.
Existing models and basic custom design
You can:
- provide a link to an existing model;
- supply a model file that you created or have permission to use;
- describe what you are looking for and allow us to find a suitable model;
- request basic design work, such as names, simple shapes, resizing or minor modifications.
Basic design or modification costs will be included in your quote where applicable.
We can only sell physical prints of models that permit commercial use. Some downloadable models allow personal printing but specifically prohibit selling the digital file or physical prints, while others require a separate commercial licence.
Any paid model, designer subscription or commercial licence fee required for your order will be discussed with you and added to your quote before you approve it.
Materials
Custom prints are available in:
PLA
Ideal for decorative items, toys, display pieces, organisers, keyrings and general indoor use.
PETG
Better suited to items requiring additional strength, flexibility, moisture resistance or greater temperature resistance.
We will recommend the most appropriate material for your design and intended use.
Colours
Choose from our available filament colours, including single-colour and selected multicolour options.
Exact shades and colour combinations depend on current filament availability. Colours may appear slightly different in person due to lighting, screens and variations between filament batches.
Additional colours, filament changes and multicolour printing may affect the final quote.
Sizing and printer capacity
Our maximum single-piece print area is approximately:
256 mm × 256 mm × 256 mm
Larger items may be possible where the model has been specifically designed to be printed in separate sections and assembled afterward.
Splitting, joining, assembling or finishing a large model may involve additional printing and labour costs, which will be included in your quote.
Some designs cannot be resized without affecting their strength, detail, fit or movement. We will let you know if your requested size is unsuitable.
Normal characteristics of 3D printing
Our products are created layer by layer using FDM 3D printing. Finished items may have:
- visible layer lines;
- small seams;
- minor colour variations;
- marks where supports were removed;
- slight surface variations;
- small differences between individual prints.
These are normal characteristics of 3D printing and are not considered faults where the item otherwise matches the approved design.
Deposit, cancellations and refunds
The $5 deposit is refundable if Shimmer and Slice Studio:
- cannot find a suitable design;
- cannot legally sell the requested print;
- cannot print the item successfully;
- determines that the requested size, material or design is unsuitable;
- is otherwise unable to complete the order.
The deposit is not refundable for change of mind, including where you:
- decide not to continue after we finish reviewing your request and provide a quote;
- no longer want the item once printed;
- dislike an approved design, colour or size;
- find the item elsewhere;
- provide incorrect measurements or information
Please provide your approximate budget when we contact you so we can recommend an appropriate design and size.
Once you approve the quote and printing begins, the order cannot be cancelled or changed unless agreed to by Shimmer and Slice Studio.
Custom-order returns
Custom 3D printed products cannot be returned or exchanged for change of mind where they have been produced according to the approved design, size and colour selections.
This does not exclude rights available under the Australian Consumer Law.
Delivery and collection
Postage and local pickup are calculated separately from the custom printing quote.
Shipping costs depend on the finished product’s size, weight and packaging requirements.
Available options will be confirmed before your final invoice is issued.

Your deposit will be credited against the final quoted price. Postage, paid model files, commercial licences and additional design work may cost extra.
